Chapman Weber brings bat-missing upside, but UC San Diego is still managing his early-2026 role
Chapman Weber is a right-hander with legit pedigree and a pitchability profile that already played as a strike-throwing weapon in his prep career, where he posted a 1.74 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 44.1 innings in the 2024-25 season and was ranked among California’s better high-school arms. At UC San Diego, he’s been used in relief this spring, and the early 2026 team stat line shows a 5.1-inning sample with 8 earned runs, which suggests his current value is more about projection than polish. The draw is upside, competitiveness, and a track record of winning; the fit depends on whether your team wants a developing arm rather than an instant shutdown piece.
