Oakland’s freshman fireballer is already making headlines in the circle
In the 2026 season, freshman pitcher Jessica Nelson has emerged as a real weapon for Oakland, highlighted by a no-hitter on April 14 and a 5-2 record at that point, plus 40 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings on the year. She looks like a high-upside arm with poise, command, and the kind of competitive edge that shows up in big moments—not just the box score. For a team looking for a young pitcher who can miss bats, eat innings, and keep getting better, Nelson is absolutely a name to know.
