Veteran EKU guard with steady floor-game value
Austin Newton is a former Eastern Kentucky guard whose college profile was built on steady playmaking and defensive effort rather than big scoring; in his Eastern Kentucky career, he averaged 0.8 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists while shooting 32.7% from the field, so he was more glue than gas-pedal. His bigger differentiator is basketball IQ: he later stayed connected to the program as a coach and administrator, and he was described by EKU leadership as bringing real passion and credibility from his playing and off-court experience. If you want toughness, maturity, and a culture fit, he’s your guy.
