high-upside Notre Dame catcher with no college game reps yet
Hartman is a sophomore catcher for Notre Dame in the 2026 season, but he still has not appeared in a college game, so the intrigue is all projection right now[1][6]. The appeal is his prep resume: a right-handed catcher from Indian Hill who earned multiple all-conference honors, won team offensive MVP, and broke his school’s all-time hits record with 137 career varsity hits[1][3]. At 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, he looks like a compact, athletic bat-first backstop; the fit question is simple—if you want upside and patience, he’s interesting, but he’s not a proven immediate-impact option yet[1][7].
