Derron Brown brings veteran-caliber safety instincts to Cal
Brown is a redshirt junior safety for California listed at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, and his résumé shows a playmaker with ball skills and a nose for disruption: he has 30 career tackles, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 pass breakups, with his pick coming in the 2017 opener at North Carolina. His value goes beyond the box score—Cal has trusted him in 24 games with two starts, and his profile suggests a tough, versatile defensive back who can flash in key moments and fit a physical, assignment-sound secondary.
