Derace James brings Louisiana size and local pedigree to the edge
Derace James is a 6-foot-2, 235-pound freshman from Patterson, Louisiana, listed on Louisiana’s 2025 roster, and his local-rooted profile makes him an intriguing developmental piece for the Ragin’ Cajuns[1]. As a young front-seven player, his appeal is less about proven box-score production and more about frame, physical upside, and the chance to grow into an impact run-defender and edge presence if his motor and technique keep climbing.
