Colin Hynek’s power bat and steady hands gave UNC a late-season boost
Hynek gave North Carolina a much-needed veteran jolt in the 2026 season: after transferring from Georgia State, the graduate catcher became a full-time starter when UNC needed it most and finished with 10 home runs, 59 RBIs and a .989 fielding percentage. His calling card is legit right-handed pop, but the bigger value is his sturdiness behind the plate and ability to handle a heavy workload without the defense falling apart. That’s the kind of catcher coaches trust when the games get loud and the innings get long.
