Charles Amadi brings rare athletic upside to Cal’s DB room
Charles Amadi is a **high-upside defensive back** for California whose background as a standout track athlete points to the kind of **closing speed, explosiveness, and change-of-direction ability** that coaches love in the secondary. Cal lists him as a former Edison standout who placed **third in the state triple jump as a junior and fourth as a sophomore**, a sign of elite lower-body power and body control that can translate to coverage and open-field tackling.[3] For teams looking for a **developmental DB with speed traits and versatility**, Amadi is worth watching as a potential difference-maker rather than just a box-score player.[3][4]
