Hugh Nelson II gives Hawai‘i a proven, physical corner with playmaking upside
Nelson has been a steady contributor for the Rainbow Warriors, and in the 2022 season he played all 13 games with 10 starts at cornerback, finishing with 48 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a team-high in an unspecified coverage category noted by Hawai‘i; ESPN also lists 45 solo tackles, 2 interceptions and 14 passes defended on his profile, pointing to a defender who can tackle, contest throws and create turnovers[3][1]. His fit is strongest for a team that values experienced DB play, toughness near the line of scrimmage and reliable coverage production rather than pure track-speed flash[3][1].
