Proven Big Sky disruptor with rare backfield production
VJ Malo is a high-impact interior defender whose calling card is havoc: in the 2021 season at Portland State, he posted 45 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks, numbers that set school FCS-era benchmarks and ranked among the national leaders. He was repeatedly recognized as one of the Big Sky’s best defensive linemen, which fits a team looking for an aggressive, physically strong playmaker who can collapse pockets and finish plays behind the line. The main question is usage and health/role fit, but the production profile screams immediate disruption.
