Elite Pass Defender with Maryland Roots and High-Impact Intensity
Brandon Phelps stands out as a top-tier pass defender for the Virginia Cavaliers, ranking 39th nationally among 421 DBs in Passes Defended (5) and 83rd in Interceptions (1) during the 2025 season[1]. His differentiator is an intense, high-effort playing style rooted in his background as a top-3 Maryland recruit and No. 163 national prospect by 247Sports[4]. While his tackle volume (24) is moderate, his ability to break up passes and read quarterbacks makes him a perfect fit for teams prioritizing coverage over raw tackling stats[1]. With no reported injury history and a reputation for relentless coverage, Phelps offers the personality and intensity needed to anchor a defensive backfield, making him an ideal candidate for teams seeking a sharp, coverage-first safety[1][4].
