Jared Smolar Brings Proven Kickoff Power and Veteran Reliability to Indiana
Smolar’s calling card is his kickoff consistency: in 2021, he handled all 12 games as Indiana’s kickoff specialist, averaging 62.7 yards on 44 kickoffs with 28 touchbacks, and he had also shown range with a 53-yard in-game field goal in high school. He is a useful fit for a team that values field-position control and low-drama special teams execution, especially because he has stayed in the program long enough to earn repeat roles rather than just flash one big leg.
