old-school Aztec tackling machine, but not a current SDSU roster watch
Joe Martin was a rugged San Diego State linebacker known for production and violence between the lines: in the 2006 season, he led the Aztecs with 109 tackles, added 7.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks, and ranked third in the Mountain West and 26th nationally in tackles[2][3]. He was a two-time conference defensive player of the week and a second-team All-MWC selection, which fits the profile of a high-motor, tone-setting defender who makes himself felt every snap[2][3]. One catch: the available reliable information identifies him as a former Aztec, not a current 2026 SDSU player[1][2].
