J.D. Schmidt is a young, rising Boston College linebacker with size and upside
In the 2026 season, J.D. Schmidt is listed by Boston College as a 6-3, 223-pound redshirt freshman linebacker from Gonzaga in McLean, Va.[1] The biggest takeaway is upside: his frame already looks college-ready, and as a younger player on the roster he brings developmental value for a defense that can mold length, range, and physical growth. There are no public stat totals attached to him yet, so the appeal is projection—if you want a linebacker with size, room to add strength, and long-term growth potential, he’s an intriguing fit.[1]
