Kautzman is a Butte, Montana native who has already shown he can handle real kicking duties at Montana State, going 4-for-7 on field goals and 19-for-22 on PATs in the 2023 season, with a long of 44 yards; he also earned a special-teams weekly honor in 2025 and later moved on to Montana Tech, where he was again recognized as an all-conference kicker/punter.
