Jaquese Smith brings defensive grit and point-guard poise to UMES
Smith’s profile points to a defense-first guard who impacts winning with energy, toughness, and playmaking: at Wakefield High School in the 2005-06 season, she averaged 10 points, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds per game, and was named CAP-7 Defensive Player of the Year. UMES also described her as a lockdown defender who “will do whatever it takes to win,” which is the kind of glue-player reputation coaches love. If your team needs a disruptive, high-IQ guard who elevates the floor on both ends, she’s worth a hard look.
