High School Rim-Protecting Phenom Turned Modest College Forward for Sam Houston Bearkats
Erik Williams, a Cypress Springs HS legend with senior-year averages of 24.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and a jaw-dropping 6.1 blocks per game in 2009, brought elite shot-blocking instincts to Marquette before transferring—his career college stats show 2.0 PPG and 1.6 RPG on 38.1% shooting (ESPN data). A first-team all-state 'Player of the Year' with school records in rebounds (771) and blocks (375), he's a high-motor rebounder and defender whose intensity and finishing could thrive in a system valuing hustle; perfect fit for teams needing frontcourt grit over scoring punch.
