Makinley Turner is Samford’s do-it-all arm with a shutdown streak
In the 2026 season, Makinley Turner emerged as a real two-way difference-maker for Samford, headlined by a pair of SoCon Pitcher of the Week awards and multiple dominant outings, including a one-hit complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts against Western Carolina. She looks like a fit for teams that value poise, strike-throwing, and competitiveness under pressure; reports from Samford’s own coverage show she can work in relief or go the distance, and she was trusted in high-leverage games against top opponents. That versatility and toughness are the big sell.
