Shayla Sweeney brings steady guard play and transferable scoring touch to Canisius
Sweeney is a 5-foot-11 guard whose value comes from a dependable scoring base, strong free-throw shooting, and the ability to contribute in multiple spots on the floor; at Canisius, she posted a career-high 16 points at Iona and averaged 5.9 points as a La Salle freshman before returning to give the Griffs experience and size on the perimeter. She also showed the ability to handle bigger minutes and produce in starts, which suggests a coach can trust her in lineup flexibility, but the clearest fit is as a smart, physical guard who can help stabilize second-unit offense and guard multiple backcourt roles.
