Albert Tuakalau brings length, burst, and rising buzz to UNM’s edge room
Tuakalau looks like a classic upside play for New Mexico: a 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior who arrived from College of San Mateo after posting 20 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a pass breakup in 2025, and he’s already on the 2026 Polynesian Player of the Year Watch List. He’s been singled out in spring practice as a defender worth watching with the starters, and his frame plus developing edge production make him a fit for teams wanting a long, active DE with room to keep climbing.
