Matt McKnight brings high-upside infield pop to UNC
McKnight enters North Carolina as a 6-foot-3, right-handed infielder with real projection, and recruiting services had him as the No. 147 overall recruit nationally and No. 6 in North Carolina in his senior year. In his final high school season, he hit .413 with 8 home runs, 32 RBIs and 36 runs, while evaluators praised his growing bat speed, improved exit velocity and ability to handle multiple infield spots. The fit is obvious: he looks like a physically advanced, offensive-minded infielder with enough athleticism to keep climbing if the hit tool keeps trending up.
