Dual-Role RHP/C with Elite Shutout Streaks and Power vs. Righties
Gage McCown, the 6'0" 190lb Las Vegas native playing for Cal State Northridge in the 2026 season, stands out as a rare Right-Handed Pitcher/Catcher who combines a 3.45 ERA with a dominant 5.05 SO/9 ratio against right-handed hitters[6][8]. His differentiator isn't just stats; it's his intense, shutout-ready mentality, evidenced by tossing three straight shutout innings in a tight loss to PEP[5], and his versatility as a catcher who recorded career-high 3 innings pitched against California Baptist[7]. While his WHIP is higher against righties (1.869), his 5.05 strikeouts per 9 innings show he has the arm strength and competitive fire teams crave, making him a perfect fit for squads needing a high-intensity, two-way player who can handle pressure in critical moments[6][7].
