Jamel Horton Jr. offers defense-and-playmaking upside, but his Mississippi State stint was brief
In his 2024-25 season with Mississippi State, Jamel Horton Jr. logged 14 appearances and averaged 1.4 points, 1.4 assists, 1.0 rebounds and 0.4 steals in 12.3 minutes per game, with shooting splits of 24.1% from the field, 26.7% from three and 40.0% at the line.[2][5] The stat line suggests a low-usage guard who could bring connective passing and some defensive activity, but the production never translated consistently, and reports say he is no longer with the program.[3][4]
