Shawn Nelson brings veteran playmaking chops to NKU’s backcourt
In the 2025-26 season, Shawn Nelson has been a steady but low-usage guard for Northern Kentucky, averaging 2.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 11.4 minutes per game while shooting 35.0% from the field and 17.6% from three. His biggest differentiator is his proven pedigree: after a breakout 2024-25 at Barton, he arrived at NKU as a 6-3 senior with a reputation for efficient scoring, foul pressure, and secondary playmaking. If your team needs a physical, experienced guard who can handle contact and competes hard, he’s worth a look.
