Adam Merritt flashed ace-level upside with a seven-inning shutout gem
In the 2026 season, UMass right-hander Adam Merritt showed real swing-and-miss potential and poise, earning MAC Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven no-hit innings with seven strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Eastern Michigan. He’s a compact 5-9 sophomore who competes hard, works deep enough to change a game, and already has a shutout on his résumé. The eye-popper is the command of traffic under pressure: even in some rougher outings, he has shown starter toughness and the ability to rebound. In 2026, he looks like a smart fit for a staff that values grit and upside.
