Griffin Almond brings a big-frame, high-upside arm to Youngstown State’s rotation
Almond is a 6'6", 235-pound right-hander who gives Youngstown State a power-pitcher look with experience across Eastern New Mexico and Connors State, including 19 appearances and a 7.25 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 22.1 innings at Eastern New Mexico in the 2024 season. He’s a late-inning and spot-start type who already logged work against strong 2026 opponents, and his size alone suggests bat-missing potential if his command keeps tightening. The fit is appealing for a staff that wants length, physicality, and upside — but he looks more like a project with sneaky value than a finished product.
