instinctive, hard-hitting Lobos DB with deep local roots
Freddy Young is a New Mexico defensive back whose appeal starts with range, toughness, and production: ESPN lists him as a Lobos DB, and his prep résumé at Mayfield included 6 interceptions and 2 pick-sixes, a sign of real ball skills and playmaking instincts[1][6]. He also brings a versatile football background as a former receiver, which usually shows up in route recognition and confidence playing the ball[6]. For a team, that makes him intriguing as a competitive, physical secondary piece—especially if you want a player who understands how to attack the ball, not just tackle it[1][6].
