Maryland’s tiny guard with giant defensive swagger
In the 2015 season, Varun Ram was a high-IQ, defense-first Maryland guard whose biggest value came in the margins: he played sparingly, but his discipline, toughness, and late-game poise helped him deliver the iconic steal that sealed Maryland’s NCAA win over Valparaiso. He was a walk-on turned scholarship player, known for relentless effort, sharp instincts, and a team-first personality that coaches trust when the game gets messy. If you want a spark-plug competitor who boosts culture, effort, and situational defense, he’s a sneaky-good fit.
