experienced Portland State safety with a proven downhill edge
Houston Barnes has long been a steady, physical presence for Portland State, and in the 2018 season he was already showing up as a defensive catalyst, leading the team in tackles early and making impact plays like a blocked punt recovery against Montana. His profile reads like a coach’s favorite: smart, reliable, and willing to do the dirty work in the run game, with enough toughness to handle special-teams value and box safety duties. If you want a safety who brings urgency, experience, and no-nonsense contact, Barnes is a fit.
