Fred Smith Jr. brings Memphis a big, versatile wing with proven production and winning pedigree
Smith, a 2026 Memphis commit from Briarcrest Christian, is a 6-foot-7, top-100 wing who pairs size, strength, and ball-handling with real shot creation and rebounding punch. In the 2026 prep cycle, he earned two Tennessee Division II-AA Mr. Basketball honors and helped Briarcrest win state titles in 2024 and 2026, finishing with more than 1,900 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists. Scouts describe him as a mismatch forward who can guard multiple spots and bully smaller defenders, which makes him a very clean fit for Penny Hardaway’s system.
