David Johnson brings NFL pedigree to North Texas’s secondary
David Johnson’s biggest draw is his proven high-end football résumé: he was an NFL Pro Bowl running back, which signals elite athletic traits, ball skills, and competitive feel that can translate to defensive back play. His tape-based appeal is less about raw stat lines and more about versatility, playmaking instincts, and understanding spacing—traits that matter in a DB who has to process quickly and tackle decisively. If your team wants a physical, experienced, multipurpose defender with a pro-level mindset, he’s a strong fit; if you need a pure coverage specialist with recent DB production, the fit is less certain.
