veteran guard roots, current role unclear
Johnny Stephene is a former Liberty guard whose college profile shows a 6-foot-1/6-foot-2 combo guard with tough defense and steady ball handling; in the 2008-09 season he averaged 3.7 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.4 rebounds, and in the 2009-10 season he played in all 35 games while averaging 2.1 points. Publicly available current data on a 2026 Liberty Flames roster role or recent season production is limited, so the clearest takeaway is that his differentiator was reliability, defensive grit, and low-drama backcourt utility rather than high-usage scoring. That profile fits a coach who wants composure, depth, and a guard who can keep the offense organized.
