Preseason ace hype meets bumpy sophomore season for Seton Hall’s Steven Svenson
Steven Svenson entered the 2026 season as the Big East Preseason Pitcher of the Year after earning All-BIG EAST First Team honors and posting a 2.15 ERA in six conference starts as a freshman in 2025, but his 2026 line has been more uneven, finishing with a 5.55 ERA and 57 strikeouts over 71.1 innings. He still offers the traits teams chase: a durable 6-3, 195-pound righty who can work deep into games, miss bats, and has already shown he can dominate stretches, including a 6.2-inning, zero-earned-run outing at Georgetown. The fit is obvious if you want upside and starter traits; the caution flag is consistency, especially after a few rough outings.
