Derek Mahaffey brings proven run-stopping production and veteran consistency to Chattanooga’s DL
Mahaffey was a steady, high-output defensive lineman for Chattanooga, earning Second Team All-SoCon in 2018 after finishing third on the team with 62 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 4.0 tackles for loss, with multiple games of 10+ tackles and disruptive plays in coverage and behind the line.[1] His value is less about flash and more about reliability, toughness, and active range from the interior, which is why he looked like a fit for a defense that wants a dependable, physical front-seven piece.[1] If you need a DL who shows up, holds up, and makes the “dirty work” plays, he fits that profile well.[1]
