Akron’s all-time assist queen and a pure floor general
In the 2013-14 season, Kacie Cassell was a no-nonsense engine for Akron: she finished as the Zips’ all-time assists leader with 688 career assists and had already led the nation in assists per game at 7.8 in 2012-13, while also posting a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio and logging huge minutes because the ball clearly belonged in her hands[1][15]. What makes her special isn’t just the numbers—it’s the command, pace, and steadiness of a true point guard who could run a team, generate offense for everyone else, and handle pressure in big moments (including a school-record-tying 12-assist game and a reputation as a leader on and off the court)[1][2][12].
