Promising freshman punter with big-leg upside, but still behind a veteran at Ole Miss
In the 2026 season, Stephon Weise enters Ole Miss as a freshman punter with obvious upside: recruiting and camp reports point to a strong leg, plus excellent hang time and a 55-plus-yard ceiling in showcase work. He was a standout at Kohl’s camps, where evaluators praised his consistency and noted a top punt of 52 yards with 5.07 seconds of hang time, but Ole Miss lists Oscar Bird ahead of him on the depth chart, so he’s more of a development piece than an immediate must-start. If you want long-term special-teams potential, he’s worth the bet.
