Defensive Line Depth Piece with FCS Transition Experience
A 6-4, 295-lb defensive lineman who transferred to Charleston Southern in April 2025 after two seasons at Appalachian State. In the 2025 season, Hertz appeared in 12 games but recorded minimal production (1 tackle, 0 sacks), suggesting he's still developing as a contributor at the FCS level. His high school pedigree—7.0 career sacks at Porter Ridge HS—shows potential, but he hasn't yet translated that into consistent college impact. Best suited as a rotational depth piece or developmental prospect rather than an immediate starter.
