former elite Cal linebacker with a disruptive edge
Cecil Whiteside arrived at Cal as a top-tier recruit — 247Sports listed him as the nation’s No. 25 player and No. 5 recruit at his position — and the early buzz centered on his length, explosiveness, and pass-rush juice off the edge[3]. In his Cal career, he flashed production with 17 tackles and 3 sacks in one season and was praised in preseason linebacker previews as an intriguing outside option, but his profile was also marked by a team-rules dismissal and later reinstatement, which adds real off-field context to any evaluation[8][10][7].
