CSU’s old-school linebacker prototype and one of the Rams’ all-time defensive standouts
Crowell was a 6-3, 245-pound senior linebacker for Colorado State and earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2000, a strong signal of real game-wrecking impact. He stood out as a physical, high-recognition defender who was trusted enough to be a Butkus Award candidate, and his CSU career was good enough to earn a sixth-round NFL selection in 2001. If you want a linebacker with proven production, toughness, and all-conference pedigree, he’s the real deal; if you want speed-first finesse, he’s more hammer than scalpel.
