Elite WIU punter turned NFL field-flipper
Scifres was a **three-time All-American** at Western Illinois and still owns the school career punting-average record, a sign of rare leg strength and consistency that separated him from typical specialists.[6] His profile is built on more than distance: he paired a booming gross average with strong net results and elite placement inside the 20, making him a high-value field-position weapon rather than just a volume punter.[5][6] The main caution is durability—his NFL career included injury interruptions and one down year—but his track record suggests a punter who can materially change field position for a team.[11][15]
