a steady, playmaking SIUE guard with a scorer’s burst
Aamir McCleary’s SIUE profile was built on real guard value: in the 2008-09 season, he averaged 9.4 points and 4.0 assists per game, led the Cougars in assists, and finished third on the team in scoring[2][6]. His calling card was control and feel, not empty volume—he could pop for a 26-point night, hit threes, and still keep the offense organized, which is exactly what coaches love in a lead guard[1][11]. He also brought toughness and reliability, starting 24 of 27 games in 2008-09[1][6].
