Alabama’s disruptive, do-it-all edge presence from Saban’s first title run
In the 2007 season, Lorenzo Washington broke through as a high-energy Alabama defensive lineman, posting 36 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks, and his best trait was versatility: he started as a nose tackle but became a productive edge defender who could collapse the pocket, chase from the backside, and add special-teams value with a blocked kick. He was part of Alabama’s 2009 SEC and BCS national-title team, and the tape/profile reads like a tough, physical, assignment-sound lineman who fit best in an aggressive front.
