Tyler Heflin’s Bullpen Value Shows Up in Outings, Not Flash
Tyler Heflin is a 6-foot, 190-pound junior right-hander for Youngstown State who gives the Penguins a versatile bullpen arm with starter-like stretch capability. In the 2026 season, he worked 15 relief appearances, went 2-1 with two saves and a 6.39 ERA across 31 innings, and logged 26 strikeouts while pitching more than three outs in 10 outings[1]. He has also been trusted in leverage spots, including a save on May 14, 2026[5]. The fit here is clear: competitive, durable, and useful when you need innings, though command and run prevention still need sharpening[1].
