Physical Texas center with early-career scoring punch
Mariana Mergerson showed early promise at Texas as a freshman center in the 2005-06 season, averaging 7.2 points in 11 games while shooting .429 from the field, and she flashed late-game value with a 10-point burst against Iowa State and seven points in a win over Colorado.[5][1][2] The clearest differentiator in the available record is that she was able to provide instant bench offense and interior presence in short minutes, but Texas later announced she was leaving the team in December 2006, so any roster projection should account for that abrupt career disruption.[6]
