Palmer O’Beirne is Samford’s 6-foot-4 lefty with starter upside and swing-and-miss flashes
In the 2026 season, Palmer O’Beirne has worked as a versatile left-handed arm for Samford, showing starter traits with a 2.1-inning scoreless outing against Mississippi State and a 2.2-inning win at Troy, but also some volatility in tougher spots. He brings size, a left-on-left look, and enough strikeout ability to miss bats, which is why he’s intriguing if your staff wants a developmental arm with upside. The fit question: he looks more like a high-ceiling project than a polished Friday-night lock right now.
