Floor-General Guard With Grit, IQ, and Big-Game Poise
In the 2001-02 season, Nina Bärlin was Georgia Tech’s steady engine at point guard, averaging 8.3 points, 7.9 assists, and 3.7 rebounds while starting 17 games; earlier Tech notes also highlighted her 22-point, 10-rebound ceiling and multiple high-assist outings, which is the kind of all-around juice that jumps off a roster sheet. Her differentiators were playmaking, toughness, and composure under pressure—she could set the table, attack, and defend, but a serious ACL injury in 2002 cut short her college run, so the real question for a team was always fit with a high-IQ lead guard rather than pure upside chasing.
