Tanyuel Welch brings two-way juice and veteran savvy to Arizona’s backcourt
Welch is a 5-foot-10 guard who gives Arizona size, physicality, and versatility in the backcourt, and her game pops most when she’s attacking the glass and making winning plays on both ends. In the 2024-25 season at Memphis, she averaged 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals while starting 24 of 29 games; after arriving at Arizona, she also flashed efficient scoring and toughness, including a 12-point, 8-rebound spark against Grambling. The big selling point: she’s a do-it-all connector with rebounder instincts, defensive edge, and a bounce-back story after a torn ACL.
