the veteran Texas walk-on who keeps punching above his weight
In the 2020 season, Cort Jaquess stood out as a reliable, high-IQ depth linebacker and special teams contributor for Texas, with a career-high 7 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss against TCU[5]. A former walk-on turned scholarship player, he brought toughness, consistency, and a team-first edge that coaches value even when the box score stays modest[1][5]. He’s the kind of glue guy who fits best in a culture that prizes discipline, special teams grit, and smart, dependable play[1][6].
