Jake Smithhart brings undersized, proven-winner energy to Southern Miss at QB
Smithhart, a **Senior** quarterback from Pearl, Miss. and Hinds CC, is listed at **5-10, 175** and stands out less for prototype size than for competitive pedigree and production as a high-school winner who led Pearl to a **16-0** state-title season; that background suggests poise, toughness, and a command-first style that can fit a system valuing accuracy and leadership over pure arm talent. Southern Miss lists him on its 2026 roster, but public stat lines in available sources do not show notable college passing output yet, so the key question is projection: a resilient, experienced field general rather than a ready-made stat monster.[6][4][2]
