Charles Funches brings Hampton a rugged, two-way forward with real glass-cleaning and rim protection
In the relevant Hampton seasons, Funches stood out as a physical, high-motor forward who impacted games beyond scoring: as a junior, he was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 32 games, and later showed he could carry more offensive load with a 26-point, 12-rebound outburst in 2010-11. He’s the kind of fit who helps a team with toughness, rebounding, and interior defense—less flashy, more “you hate playing against him,” which is usually a compliment in basketball.
